 | La Posada Residents are Patriotic about Memorial Day - May 26, 2008
Posted May 21, 2008
The residents of La Posada, a world-class retirement community, have commemorated Memorial Day annually with reverence and patriotism. Within
this single community there are over 20 United States Veterans.
This year, on Monday, May 26, the celebration is multi-faceted. Starting off the day at 11:00 a.m. will be the Palm Beach Gardens High School ROTC Presentation of Colors followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Palm
Beach Gardens Vice Mayor, David Levy and next, Walt Stroly, Executive Director of La Posada, will then speak about the meaning of Memorial Day. Palm Beach Gardens Mayor, Eric Jablin and Walt Stroly will lay the memorial wreath at the flag pole located at the community’s entrance.
In Flanders' Field, written in 1915 by John McCrae, will be read by La Posada’s Masterpiece Living Coordinator, Sarah Matthews. Rabbi Joel Levine will finish the ceremony with a prayer. The entire celebration is followed by a BBQ luncheon, prepared by La Posada’s Executive Chef and culinary staff, in the community center. Here, many of the Veteran residents have a display featuring their memorable photos in uniform.
