Charming, personable, magnetic, classy ...Frank and Jackie Oppedisano can be labeled many ways by the residents of La Posada. Their most recent label is the honor of being named Mr. and Ms. La Posada, an annual pageant which they competed and won in 2009. With its emphasis on the individual's positive philosophy of getting older, the La Posada pageant found its chosen winners to be a perfect example. The crowd cheered with encouragement as they announced they would be purchasing a set of brand news bicycles proving having fun has no age limit and that life is better when you get outside and "play".
Jacqueline and Francis, as they formally known, are native New Englanders hailing from Cambridge, Massachusetts. Both graduated from Cambridge and Latin High School. Frank then earned his degree at Boston College and began a successful career with General Electric where he worked for forty five years.
Frank and Jackie's villa is gloriously decorated with art and if you walk thru their garage you'll find crated pieces that have yet to be displayed. Their passion for art came unexpectedly. General Electric had asked for each manager to pick out artwork for their areas. Frank had the thrill of the shopping spree and Jackie had the task of arranging the pieces in his office. Department workers loved to admire the collection through his glass enclosed office. Jackie was most clever in making an arrangement of the Boots painting by Homer Winslow which she displayed low enough to appear as if it was walking through the office greenery just below the piece.
His sense of taste and keen eye attracted an offer from GE to decorate other offices in Connecticut, Washington, and all over the country. He became the art consultant for the company. Frank and Jackie collected their own art keepsakes from around the world and continue to enjoy the beauty of new pieces at shows and museums.
Jackie did work some while she raised their 2 children. She worked for Hewlett Packard and even the IRS, but her joy came from the work she did with theater and performing groups. She was one of the "Oronoque Players" while in Stratford, CT. As a dancer with the group, they performed regularly at area condos, something her and Frank's three grandchildren must love to hear about.
The Oppedisanos moved to La Posada 4 years ago from Jupiter. Frank and Jackie love their life experiences and explain that it all boils down to attitude. Jackie simply puts "Attitude has a lot to do with getting along in life. Always look for the pluses." Jackie and Frank Oppedisano are definitely a plus to the La Posada community!
Five years have passed since they dug their first hole-
Time fleeted by as they pursued their goals-
To create a La Posada with such beauty galore
A place we'd be proud of and all adore.
We all decided on the way of living
For fine dining, and exercise and occasional swimming.
Add to that a staff so patient and so young
Who many times ask politely "Where are you from?"
This now is our home and we've all made some changes
Some great -some startling - many scopes of all ranges.
So when push comes to shove,
You all must agree.
This place is fabulous for you - and you - and me.
As La Posada's king and queen we start our reign in 2009
Hear ye, hear ye, our first proclamation is this
"Eat up" "Drink up" and have a great time!
